How to Receive Rain Start Notifications on Your Apple Watch

Staying dry during unexpected rain showers is easier with your Apple Watch. By setting up rain start notifications, you can receive timely alerts about impending precipitation. Here's how to configure this feature:

1. Enable Location Services for the Weather App

Accurate rain notifications require precise location data.

  • On Your iPhone:
  • Open Settings.
  • Tap Privacy & Security.
  • Select Location Services.
  • Scroll down and tap Weather.
  • Choose Always to allow the Weather app to access your location at all times.

2. Activate Stay Dry Notifications

The Weather app offers Stay Dry notifications to alert you before rain or snow begins.

  • On Your iPhone:
  • Open the Weather app.
  • Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the bottom right corner.
  • At the top, tap Turn on Notifications.
  • Follow the prompts to enable notifications.
  • To receive alerts for other locations, tap the three dots in the top right corner, select Notifications, and enable notifications for your desired locations.

3. Customize Notification Settings on Your Apple Watch

Ensure your Apple Watch is set to receive and display notifications appropriately.

  • On Your iPhone:
  • Open the Apple Watch app.
  • Tap the My Watch tab.
  • Select Notifications.
  • Scroll down to the Weather app and ensure Allow Notifications is enabled.
  • Choose your preferred alert style: Alerts, Banners, or None.
  • Decide if you want notifications to appear on the Lock Screen and whether to show a Notification Indicator on your watch face.

4. Manage Notifications Directly on Your Apple Watch

You can also adjust notification settings directly on your watch.

  • On Your Apple Watch:
  • Press the Digital Crown to access the app list.
  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap Notifications.
  • Scroll down and select Weather.
  • Toggle Allow Notifications to On.
  • Customize alert styles and other preferences as desired.

5. Receive and Respond to Notifications

Once set up, your Apple Watch will alert you to impending rain or snow.

  • When a Notification Arrives:
  • Raise your wrist to view the notification.
  • Tap the notification to read more details.
  • To dismiss, swipe down on the notification or press the side button.

By configuring these settings, your Apple Watch will keep you informed about upcoming precipitation, helping you stay dry during unexpected showers.
